What is your favorite thing about your one year old (or was your favorite thing)? Chances are, it’s little details of them, like their sweet baby cheeks, their round bellies, their chubby little hands and fingers, or the way their wisps of hair poke out from behind their ears. If you’re wondering, those are all some of my favorites about my own one year old right now! :) Or maybe it’s the way they waddle around from room to room, dragging their favorite stuffed animal or toy. Maybe it’s the way they are so proud they’re able to master going up and down the stairs on their own and want to do it over, and over, and over again. It could be the way they love to rough house and be tickled, how they feel in your lap when you read them a book, or the way they nestle their head into your chest when they are getting sleepy.
We all have those things that we love more than anything about our little one that probably no-one else knows. Those are going to be the details we look back on and wish we could get just a little bit more of one day.
Now that I have a four year old I’m learning that sadly some of those details begin to fade from your memory over time, unless you’ve documented some of it. That’s why I love home sessions SO, so much. It gives your little one the freedom to be comfortable in their safe little environment and makes capturing those sweet, everyday moments and details so easy to document.
So I’m telling ya - if you’ve thought about a home session to document your family during this season of life (no matter what age your children are), don’t put it off! You won’t regret it, and I can assure you your children will cherish these photos just as much as you one day.
Now meet Jarad and his family. They made my job so easy. They played with toys and the dogs, threw football, read books, tickled, laughed, climbed, snuggled, and were just simply themselves. I love these photos because it reminds me that your everyday, ordinary moments and memories with your children and family are really more beautiful than we give them credit for.
