Embracing the Season You're In | Louisville Newborn & Family Photographer

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

When this mama received their photo gallery she told me she loved them… and that they looked so tired because “damnit, we are!” (her exact words, ha!). But she also said she was so happy to have their little faces and the chaos of the season they’re in captured.

And that made me smile because she looked through the photos not looking for perfection, but for glimpses of their real life… Photos that one day will bring back true memories of the wonderful chaos that filled their home and the echoes of happy children running through each room, playing and laughing (and I’m sure arguing now and then, too). And rather than wishing time away because it’s an exhausting season, she simply embraced and appreciated this time she’s in. Finding joy in the little things, grace in the hard things, and knowing that even this season will pass quickly so it’s important to enjoy every bit while they can.

Whether you’re in the middle of sleepless nights with a newborn, wiping noses and constantly picking up your children’s messes, or stuck at home during a pandemic with your favorite humans although they may drive you a little crazy now and then… I think it’s beautiful (even the parts you may think aren’t) because you’re together. There’s love. There’s laughter. There’s grace and forgiveness and learning and growing. I hope one day we will all look back on our days and see that they were so wonderful. ALL of it - the good, the hard, the mundane and the extraordinary - simply because we were with those we love most.

I loved every bit of getting a little glimpse into this family’s days lately… Loving on their sweet baby Louis, playing games, listening to music, dancing, playing ball, laughing and being silly and just being them. They made it so easy. Katey and Kyle, I adore your family! Thank you for inviting me in to spend some time with you all and capture your beautiful babies.
