Welcoming Baby Lola | Southern Indiana and Louisville Newborn Photographer

From the moment I first talked with this pretty momma over email to the second I walked into their cozy home, I could sense it… The most sincere gratitude and joy for the new season of life they had entered. With arms and hearts wide open, they’ve fully embraced this new life with their sweet Lola, and they do it so humbly and with so much kindness. It was heartwarming watching them with their baby girl.. It’s clear they were made to be Lola’s mom and dad.

Alexis shared with me some thoughts of her motherhood journey so far, and it’s had me thinking more and more about how important it is to have support systems in our lives, no matter what season of life we’re in. To have people you can count on to listen, show up, and love you without judgment through life’s ups and downs is truly a gift. To be that support for someone else is one of the greatest acts of service I can think of. Knowing you’re never alone in life helps give you strength, reassurance, and hope through the highs, lows, and all the in between moments of life.

My thoughts on motherhood are that it truly takes a village. I was surrounded by close friends who all had their children around the age of 20. I was still going out and having my fun with Nicholas around then and we were equally positive that kids were not in the cards for us. So I enjoyed my time with my friends’ kids by offering to babysit, along with us all going out and doing things together all the time. Skip forward 4 years. Late one evening, Nicholas approached me with the idea of us starting our own family. We talked it over and ultimately knew it's what we wanted all along. A little over a month later that amazing little positive sign showed up! All of my Mom friends became my village. Showering me with the upmost support, genuine love, and the reassurance that I would never have to walk alone through any bit of Motherhood. I've been able to incorporate their experiences into my own after learning from their triumphs and mistakes. A support system is key. Always knowing I have them and Nicholas has made the transition into this season of life purely magical.

Their session came to an end and I kind of wasn’t ready to leave yet… I love when clients become friends, even within a couple short hours. And they left me with one of the very best compliments I could ever receive - that their session was actually fun AND easy! That’s music to this girl’s ears. :)

Alexis and Nicholas , you two are wonderful and such a joy to be around. Your family is beautiful. Best wishes to the three of you in your new adventure together! <3
